Traffic light will be installed at 32 Mile and Mound!

A traffic light will be installed at 32 Mile and Mound roads after years of increased car volumes and repeated calls for traffic studies.

The light will be installed at the intersection next spring at the border of Washington and Bruce townships at a cost of $1.4 million, with the county Roads Department paying half and the two communities splitting the remainder.

Macomb County Commissioner Don Brown of Washington Township, who is the board chair, said in a news release he is pleased with the development as it will increase road safety and ease traffic congestion.

“This is great news for all who use this busy route,” Brown said in the release. “I have worked to keep this intersection improvement a priority for the Department of Roads and, thanks to the cooperation of Bruce and Washington Townships, the project will now be done.”

The project was approved at the Nov. 27 board meeting.

North of 32 Mile, Mound turns into Eldred Road, which is only about a half-mile long before it dead ends.
