Washington Township is now a Purple Heart Community!

On May 17th, 2023 our Township was honored to receive the Accreditation of a Purple Heart Community. We are proud to honor the brave men and women that were awarded the Purple Heart. We held a Purple Heart Ceremony at our Veterans Memorial on Aug. 7, 2023, which is also National Purple Heart Day, for the unveiling of our new Purple Heart Flag & Purple Heart Community Signs that will be on display, and most importantly to pay our respects. Our Washington Township Supervisor Sam Previti was our Master of Ceremony. We had the VFW Post 4659 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Shelby Twp. Honor Guard to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and a 3 Firing Memorial  Volley & Taps. We also had the beautiful vocal talent of Washington Township Resident Audrey Brown, sing "The Star Spangled Banner" & "America the Beautiful". Pastor Steve Barkey of Orchards Ridge Church led us in prayer, and shared the history of the Purple Heart Medal. Our Honorary Guest, Phil Randazzo, Double Purple Heart Recipient, US Army 3-4 Cavalry, 25th Infantry Division, Vietnam 67-68 TET Offensive, shared stories of his time at war and his accomplishments as an advocate for Veterans. Our ceremony was followed by coffee & donuts at our Township Hall, sponsored by Realtors AnnaMaria & Ron Jamil. 
It was an amazing day, full of patriotism! We thank all who came or participated!
