The Historical Societies of Romeo, Ray and Washington Townships have chosen “Local Roads” as the theme of their 2024 calendar and are seeking input from the public to identify which roads to include. Four roads from each of the three communities will be highlighted.
Anyone can submit an old street photo, provide insights as to how a road was named, or just share an interesting story. Suggestions should be emailed to info@rayhistory.org or washingtonmuseum@gmail.com no later than September 10, 2023.
The Societies are also seeking sponsors to defray the printing costs. Sponsors can include a business card size advertisement in the back of the calendar for just $25. Additionally, twelve $50 sponsors will receive a larger advertisement on the bottom section of one month. Sponsor forms are available on the Societies’ websites and Facebook pages.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendars this fall will be used to fund programs and facility maintenance of the non-profit historical societies. Our 2023 calendar, titled, “School Days – Lessons from Our Past”, was one of the most popular the societies had published and sold out quickly.
